EMBRACE

There was a time we yearned for the solace of each other’s embrace
Across coasts, across mountains, across oceans.
A tangible love, incomparable and irreplaceable.
No matter where we/ you/ i were in the world,
We were home so long as we had one another.
We slept to the gentle whir of hotel air conditioners
Settling into the familiar anxiety of an early morning flight
Never fully rested/ resting/ restful
You in your city, me in mine
The seconds, minutes, hours ticking away on Skype,
Counting the time that elasped since I’d seen you last
Counting down until I’d see you again.
There was a time we yearned for the solace of each other’s embrace.

love always inspires me to write, but that inspiration has been far and few between as of late. maybe its because im so focused on work, friends and getting myself into the best shape of my life. maybe its an excuse to avoid the haunting thoughts that linger whenever i prod too deep. maybe its my poor inability to articulate my thoughts after a long-extended hiatus from journalism. whatever it is, it’s far from ideal and i’m determined to maneuver around this permanent writer’s block before the end of the year. i’m thinking fitness/health related musings here to keep me on track to #sub12percent, weekly submissions on fatlace for the heck of it and new additions to my personal library to keep my brain stimulated. complacency is the death of creativity.

2013 —- be better: physically, mentally, emotionally. write more. the rest doesn’t really matter.
